AFAX: Festival Hall

5 min read
its been a really wonderful and exciting 2 days of AnimeFestival Asia 2010 at the Suntec Convention Centre, and even though I was throughly exhausted, I had losta fun. Even though the Stage Area featured guest appearances, anime screening and cosplay competition, the Festival Hall was equally jam packed with people who was rushing to get their limited edition merchandises, try out the Project Diva arcade game, photograph figurines on display, and participate in other activities at the Akiba Mini-Stage.

I was quite fortunate to be invited to be one of Canon’s Ambassador for AFAX and had the opportunity to share tips and tricks on figurine photography at the Akiba Mini-stage area on Day 1. I managed to take a shot of the audience before my talk started. Really appreciate all my friends who came down to support me XD Anyway I promised to see how I can upload my presentation slides and video for those who were unable attend the workshop.

Dannychoo makes his guest appearance at AFA again this year. Managed to catch a shot of him at the show management office, where he was encouraging everyone (with his perfect Singlish) to head to the Stage Area for the screening of culture:Japan. He also tries once again to convince us that he is actually from Hap Chai. The Mirai-chan itasha was absolutely gorgeous and I wonder if Danny will be driving it home ^^

Canon got onboard as one of AFAX sponsors, and they introduced a few new interesting elements. Firstly, the event had two cute pairs of Canon Selphy girls roaming around the Festival Hall and helping event-goers to take photos with the Canon Powershot S95 and print them using the Selphy printer they were bringing around.

However, it seems there were many folks who were more interested in taking photo of them instead of being photographed. ^^

Even though, I bumped into them a couple of times around the hall, it was only when I reached home did I realised that I forgotten to ask them to take a photo together with me!! Apologies but I have a weakness for girls with nekomimi XD

The next cool thing introduced by Canon was the Cosplay Booth with three different backdrops. The booths were manned by professional photographers and anyone could get their photos taken and printed onto a large A4-sized photo for free!

For those were tired out from the shopping, screaming, and shooting at the event, they could recharge themselves at the MMK Meido Cafe (School Days Ver.) or the Atelier Butler Cafe. While moe girls in school uniform is the winning formula to attract long queues of otaku into the MMK meido cafe, I was very surprise to see that the newly introduced butler cafe had its long line of followers as well. Anyway I managed to get into both cafe and snaps some shots, so I will put them up in seperate posts tomorrow.
